We went to the Morton Arboretum on Saturday for a picnic and to celebrate fall.
But it turns out, we didn’t have to go anywhere except for a walk/bike ride around the block to see some major tree diversity.
Pictured are the results of our fall “stained glass” project on Sunday while the iFarmer worked out of town.
The kids helped me choose colorful leaves from around Barrie Park and we affixed them to contact paper. Then we taped them in our windows.
They look best in the evening when the light from the front porch penetrates the translucent clear contact paper and the leaves. Beautiful.
And it’s a kid-friendly activity to boot.
A couple years ago I tried this project with spray glue and wax paper.
I think I like the stained-glass effect better with wax paper. But contact paper is easier to work with and less toxic than spray glue.
Still have a memory etched in my mind of that project hanging in the window of your Munster home.I need a good craft project.Thanksgving might just call for such an event.
