Celebrating Backyard Chicken Laws and Chickens in General

So cool to learn that Wake Forest’s Board of Commissioners voted Tuesday to approve a chicken ordinance that allows up to 10 hens, no roosters, within the town limits.

There was one dissenter, who feared, among other things, that chickens would run wild through neighborhoods. Good gracious. The horror.

Thanks to Backyard Chickens for Wake Forest for reporting the news.

I also learned on the post about a California town that’s among the hen friendliest. It hosts an annual chicken festival, which is coming up this weekend in the Village of Fair Oaks. There were 8,000 festival goers at last year’s event, according to the festival’s website.

Hat tip Urban Chickens.
