A Bountiful Visit

One of my favorite things about visiting The Farm is tagging along with Photo Farmgirl to collect the weekly CSA share at Victory Acres.

This was a particularly bountiful visit. We were able to get a hefty load of tomatoes, including some hearty heirlooms that I intend to savor all week. And I picked up a pumpkin for carving…though I’m tempted to carve it up for baking.

No dice on getting any of the dozens of bundles of garlic drying in the rafters. Maybe later in the season.

Then, with clippers in hand, we headed to the fields for pick-your-own bouquets and to pick the most succulent raspberries I’ve ever tasted. OMG. Those were so good.

The really good news is that Hoosier Outsider planted the same variety this spring. We should benefit from the first harvest next summer. Yum.

Back at the ranch, the ornamentals cup does floweth over. I clipped a few alien-looking gourds. But the Hoosier Outsider had already clipped so many it was easy to box up enough to share with 4H Champ this weekend.
