My history with our family’s small hobby farm in Central Indiana began when my parents brought me there after my mother and I were released from Marion General Hospital in May 1971. I’m told my first nickname was “Pumpkin” because my mother was planting pumpkin seeds to pass the time during her marathon labor. Sorry mom.
The stories I’ve heard about this place date back much further, back to when my grandparents moved my father and his three siblings there from nearby Gas City to the country, a 30-acre property along the Mighty Mississinewa.
Back then, the farm had a barn, large work shed, and a three-bedroom farmhouse.
Fast forward to 2024. My grandparents long gone and my parents more recently passed, my husband and I are looking to rethink, remodel and restore the welcoming place my grandparents created more than 70 years ago.
Latest before and after shots.
