Who knew that adults would devour ants on a log? I added that last minute to the menu of our Childhood Favorites holiday party.
Other favs?

PB&J—dressed up slightly to look like stained glass cookies.
Meatballs—no surprises there. No matter what, even though I don’t get it, those go quickly.
Bourbon mini hot dogs—a more grown-up version of a childhood staple.
Party favor: Scrabble ornaments. Those were fun to make this year.
Signature cocktail: Sparkly raspberry champagne cocktail.
Not as big of a hit?

Childhood games—this may be because there wasn’t a lot of space to play. But there were few takers for Candyland, Chutes and Ladders, and Connect 4. Bigger hits were Skittles and the old Atari games.
Candy corner—though I think most folks thought the candy feast was for decoration. I had much more candy left over than I expected (except for the Twinkies).
Charcuterie tree—it looked cool but I think our guests were hesitant to eat the tree and, in doing so, demolish it.
