One of my absolute favorite parties and I didn’t even take very many pictures. And it was truly the most visual event I’ve hosted.
Because one of my favorite artists, Brenan Sharp, was in between galleries, I was able to borrow 20 of his painting for a unique Pop Up Pop Art Holiday Party.
The paintings were from two of his recent exhibits Hot Wheel and High Heels (photos of paintings here) and Game of Drones.
I talk about the drones exhibit at the end of this video:
Brenan’s pop art is inspired and his commentary, often very subtle, is thoughtful and intellectual, usually related to current events or cultural tensions. I’ve enjoyed every single artist chat about Brenan’s work so I was absolutely thrilled to have so many pieces on the walls in my house.
To go along with the art, we decorated in mid-century modern style, complete with Lichtenstein coasters and ornaments (from a recycled calendar), tinsel on the tree, and a pop art tinsel tree with party favor ornaments made from recycles pop cans.
For food, we served using vintage TV dinner trays.
The most popular (besides those cocktail party meatballs) was the tater tot bar with loads of tasty toppings. Our signature cocktail was a classic martini.
No pop art party is complete without a real live Pop Art Girl, this one my sister, who has a talent for makeup.
