I’ve been digging through the basement looking for items to donate to our school’s annual ginormo yard sale.
But I won’t be giving up this treasure, “The Guide to Convenience Foods: How to Use, Plan, Prepare, Present.”
It’s a 1968 professional catering book that, according to the inscription, was gifted to Sim’s dad in 1982. The notes in the back are in his mother’s handwriting.
And it’s just jammed with intriguing and mind-boggling flavor combinations, like “Jellied Tomato Cheese Salad” and “Fish Puff Pizza. Each serves 48, btw.
There’s also all sorts of “variations with canned ham.” Oh, and there’s “Meat Balls Stroganoff” – which I admit had me thinking would make a good crock pot dish for the holidays.
Wonder if I can grab something out of this for a last-minute party we’re planning this weekend.
