My back is still recovering from Saturday’s Irving Yard Sale. That’s my excuse for not posting an update until now.
But I can report that the sale — which was our first big fundraiser for the Irving Schoolyard Project to replace the massive 60-year-old blacktop with multipurpose green space — was a success.
I’m told the effort raised more than $6,100. And I was delighted to contribute my hard labor, largely in the housewares section, for a project that will transform this part of our community.
Chevy Missions came through for us, with a $500 donation, and vehicles to help cart purchases home for shoppers. But more than that, their marketing reps contributed their time and muscle to the project, helping us load up all the leftovers and drop them off at area thrift stores.
